This past weekend, I spent some much-needed time at my apartment catching up with one of my long-time bffs, Helena Haynes. Helena and I met through our high school Journalism class when I was a junior and she was a freshman, and I can't believe we've only known each other for that long!
Helena is one of those friends who I can can have a conversation with about anything at anytime, and if we ever don't see each other for a while, we're able to just pick right back up where we left off! She's always been supportive to me in both my academic and professional pursuits, and especially in my blogging and social media journey. She's also my motivational partner at Orangetheory Fitness, even though we usually spend the whole class complaining about how sweaty and tired we are.
In an article Helena wrote for her blog about me, which you can find here, I share a lot about finding balance in my life, my personal style and how I got to where I am today. Additionally, she took some really great photos of me to accompany the article!
Check out my favorite excerpt from the interview below, and be sure to head on over to her site to read the whole thing!
It can be really intimidating to put yourself out there, whether it be in the form of a blog, a YouTube channel, a curated Instagram account, etcetera. A huge part of successfully creating a platform for yourself is harnessing the confidence to do so. It can be really daunting thinking that no one is going to read your blog or that they’re going to judge you, but most people will find it really cool and impressive. I’ve definitely had people talk about me behind my back, saying things like “Who does she think she is? Does she think she’s an influencer or something?” but the joke has always been on the haters because through my work with blogging, I’ve been able to partner with really cool companies and even get free clothes and products!
